A little planning can make all the difference to how a saree drapes or a Fabric Story takes form. Here you will find the key dimensions and considerations to help you choose with confidence. Where your requirement is individual, the VARNINI® team can guide you before you order.
Saree Drape
Made to work with the way you wear it.
A VARNINI® saree is designed with both the artwork and the drape in mind. Our current standard saree is approximately 5.5 metres in length. The standard fabric width is 44 inches; after the applicable fall-and-edging finish, the standard finished saree height is approximately 40–42 inches. Saree length and finished height can be adapted according to wearer preference and the chosen design.
Saree length, height and coordinated blouse-piece length can be adapted according to wearer preference and styling requirements, subject to confirmation for the chosen design.
Fabric Stories
Begin with the form you want to create.
VARNINI® Fabric Stories are available in the length you need, with no minimum order quantity. The right quantity depends on the silhouette, measurements, length, sleeves, flare, lining and the way you would like the artwork to sit.
Your tailor can determine final quantity from measurements and pattern; VARNINI® can help you consider the fabric and artwork before you order.
Artwork Placement
Let the composition become part of the silhouette.
Some Fabric Stories use directional or placed artwork. Before cutting, consider how key elements will fall across the front, back, sleeves, panels or other parts of the silhouette. Where relevant, fabric direction and placement can be discussed while planning your requirement.
Coverage & Lining
Choose the finish that feels right for you.
Coverage can vary with fabric, colour, print density, lighting and intended silhouette. For Fabric Stories, consider lining or layering according to the design and your preferred coverage. For sarees, your petticoat and blouse construction can similarly be chosen according to the fabric and coverage you prefer.
